The original sentence of 10½ years was manifestly inadequate because the judge gave excessive and unjustified discounts for personal mitigation and assistance, and improperly contradicted the law enforcement assessment of the utility of the defendant's information; the appropriate notional sentence after trial is 21 years, a 37% reduction for early plea and limited assistance (to 13 years 3 months), plus 3 months for campaign activity (13 years), and allowing a 6-month discretionary reduction for double jeopardy yields a substituted sentence of 12½ years imprisonment.
