Stopper evidence cannot be used to infer a connection to the yoga ball except to the limited extent it was shown to the defendant at interview; the prosecution is permitted to call expert evidence that the defendant's research was of no value because that evidence is relevant to motive and any expertise issues must be tested outside the jury; judicial notice is limited to the fact that a few US pest control companies purport to offer carbon monoxide rodent eradication services and does not extend to efficacy or required quantities.
