Because the television film might materially affect the verdict against the 2nd defendant and thereby potentially affect the conviction of a co-defendant, and because the film requires careful technical examination and further investigation rather than being disposed of on the papers, the Court allowed the application, quashed the convictions, set aside the sentences and ordered a new trial in the District Court.
