Leave to appeal against sentence was granted because it was reasonably arguable that the aggregate starting point of 13.5 years (and resultant 9-year sentence after discount) may be manifestly excessive under the totality principle even though the individual starting points were not plainly wrong; also a procedural point regarding the form of consecutive orders under s68 of the Criminal Procedure Ordinance warranted appellate consideration.
