Payments to an agent who diverts confidential information or places himself in conflict with his principal by channeling business to a competitor constitute an inducement or reward for acts 'in relation to' the principal's affairs under s.9(1)(a); the applicant's knowledge of the impropriety satisfied the mens rea for conspiracy and the leave application was not reasonably arguable.
