The court held that Cuyahoga County Court in Ohio has jurisdiction to make the initial child custody determination under the UCCJEA and that Ohio is clearly and distinctly the more appropriate forum given the parties' and children's substantial connections with the US, availability of witnesses and documents, and practical convenience; accordingly the court exercised its discretion to grant a stay of the Hong Kong proceedings.
