Given the massive quantities of controlled substances and the need for deterrence and to prevent recruitment of elderly persons by drug syndicates, the Court held that the starting point and reductions applied were appropriate; the 15‑year sentences for each trafficking offence were not excessive and the application for leave to appeal was dismissed.
