    HKSAR v. NGUYEN VAN-TO

    Citation
    HKSAR v. NGUYEN VAN-TO
    Court
    Court of Appeal
    Case number
    CACC353/2006

The Court of Appeal upheld the convictions: Ko's evidence, supported by bank records, taped conversations and observable conduct, was sufficiently credible to sustain conviction; however the trial judge's sentencing starting point of 30 months for the corruption charges was manifestly excessive on these facts and was substituted — each of charges 1–8 reduced to 21 months concurrent and charge 9 reduced to 12 months to be served consecutively, yielding a total sentence of 33 months imprisonment.
