The deaths were caused by a fire originating from a fuel leak at the upper portion of the forward right hose connected to burner number 193 which ignited during landing; the nine deaths in the inquest were accidental. The inquest further found failings in information, risk assessment and supervision by the travel industry (Kuoni and DMC arrangements) warranting regulatory and procedural recommendations.
