Section 221 authorises broad production orders directed at categories of documents relevant to liquidators' investigations; such orders do not convert into impermissible discovery provided categories are sufficiently clear for respondents to identify documents in their possession. The Court upheld the judge's orders in substance but limited their scope by requiring documents to relate to assets directly or indirectly owned by, or in which there was a direct or indirect interest of, the relevant company, and affirmed that absent documents cannot give rise to contempt.
