The court found on the evidence that the surviving spouse did not pool her income with the deceased and therefore the pooled-income (Coward/Crabtree) formula did not apply; the court accepted that the deceased would likely have passed the general welder certification and become a general welder with higher notional earnings, applied the Harris approach to calculate dependency with the parties' agreed multipliers and rates, corrected a computational error under the slip rule and awarded net damages to the plaintiff accordingly.
