Because the trial judge found that the items had been lawfully pawned, he lacked jurisdiction to make an order under s.23(1)(a) of the Pawnbrokers Ordinance; that order is therefore a nullity and must be set aside; the Court may grant an extension of time under the District Court Ordinance to seek leave to appeal and the parties may pursue appropriate civil proceedings thereafter.
