Although the trial judge erred by treating a genuinely held belief as requiring objective reasonableness, he expressly disbelieved the appellant's testimony (finding the belief ill-founded and that the appellant turned a blind eye). That adverse credibility finding was properly reached by permissible use of objective features to assess plausibility; accordingly the conviction is safe and the appeal is dismissed.
