Imprisonment was an available and not manifestly excessive sentence because the offending had a commercial character across multiple transactions and substances, general deterrence in drug dealing required a clear custodial response, and detention administered within the services would often be insufficient to achieve that deterrence; membership of the armed forces is not automatically aggravating but the factual assessment here supported imprisonment of four months combined with dismissal.
