The Court held the offending should be assessed at the lower end of seriousness given the causal effect of long‑term prescription drug addiction and clear rehabilitative progress; the real and appreciable likely consequences of a forgery conviction for unskilled employment would be out of all proportion to that low gravity; accordingly the conviction and sentence were set aside and the appellant discharged without conviction.
