Because Alice wholly lacks capacity and there is a real risk that urgent and critical decisions will be required where the multidisciplinary process and parental agreement may not provide timely authoritative decision-making, the only satisfactory way to ensure appropriate decisions was to appoint a welfare guardian; the Family Court did not err in appointing VMR and the appointment was proportionate and protective in context.
