Even if the judge's directions about the statutory presumption and mens rea were imperfect, the Crown had overwhelming evidence that the appellant had possession or control of the bill of lading and bamboo containing drugs and the appellant failed to rebut the statutory presumption of knowledge; therefore no substantial miscarriage of justice occurred and the convictions on possession and importation must stand.
