Sentencing must be recalculated under the revised guidelines: for 736 grams of cocaine the strict arithmetical starting point is 16 years 11 months but, taking role and culpability into account, an appropriate sentence after trial would be 18 years 3 months; allowing a full one‑third discount for a timely guilty plea reduces that to 12 years 2 months and a further deduction of 2 months (not 3) for verified participation in an anti‑drug campaign yields a final sentence of 12 years imprisonment; appeal allowed and original sentence reduced accordingly.
