The Court held the District Court did not err: appellant had understood and authorised the negotiated resolution, received clear advice that payment of $50,000 was critical to any chance of discharge, lacked a clear defence, and presented no material mistake or defect justifying withdrawal; there was also no realistic prospect that the statutory test for discharge without conviction could be met, so both conviction and sentence appeals were dismissed.
